Robyne Robinson is best known as an Emmy winning journalist, and Twin Cities broadcasting icon, that ran for Minnesota state lieutenant governor during last year’s 2010 elections. However, Robyne is also an accomplished artist, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and arts advocate.
Robyne’s contributions to the state’s art and philanthropic communities are considerable. She was selected by Mayor R.T. Rybak to co-chair of Mosaic, a city wide arts and diversity festival in Minneapolis. She also co-founded Exhibit, a non-profit that provided fellowships and micro-loans to visual artists and filmmakers. She has also served on numerous boards including the Walker Art Center, A Better Chance Foundation, and Lupus Foundation of Minnesota.
As an artist and entrepreneur, her own paintings have been exhibited at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. She was the owner of Flatland, a contemporary fine art gallery featured in Art News, and Elle Décor. She is also the creator and designer of ROX Minneapolis Jewelry. Her jewelry has been featured on the Tyra Banks Show, and in Metro, and Redbook magazine. Rox is carried in 10 Twin Cities boutiques, as well as in Santa Fe, Tampa and Naples, Florida, New York City, Athens, Greece, Mexico and the Caribbean.
